All India Institute of Medical Sciences is the full form of AIIMS.AIIMS means for All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
AIIMS provides high-quality education and learning facilities. It is an autonomous organization of public medical colleges stretched throughout India, established by the Government of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It was founded in 1956 on the dream foundations of Jawaharlal Nehru and Amit Kaur.
It is famous for providing a high standard higher education in the medical field for under and post graduate course.
AIIMS was made a national level institution, in which taking admission and studying is the dream of every medical student.
All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of autonomous government public medical universities of higher learning.
These institutes were declared as institutes of national importance by an Act of Parliament. AIIMS New Delhi, the predecessor of the institute, was established in 1956. Since then, 24 more institutes have been announced.
In 2003, the Government of India announced the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), which aimed to "redress regional imbalances in the availability of affordable/reliable tertiary healthcare services". This was to be done through two main channels: the establishment of AIIMS-like institutions and the modernization of government medical colleges.
As of January 2022, nineteen institutes are operational and five more are expected to become operational by 2025.

Many number of medical courses is provided by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences). The main and popular one is MBBS course which stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. It also offers B.Sc Honours course in nursing and M.Sc and Ph.D course in research. Entry to these courses is through a nationwide single competitive examination - NEET-UG which is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency).
