Nakshatra names with Rashi

Vedic or Hindu Astrology isolates the zodiac or rashi into 27 divisions and every division is known with a one of a kind nakshatra name.

What is Astrology?

Vedic astrology is a valuable tool for understanding the personalities of people and predicting future events. It's also used to find meaning in life, which can be incredibly helpful in personal and professional decisions.

Zodiac or Rashi

In Vedic astrology, the zodiac is a group of twelve signs that represent physical aspects of our human nature.

The twelve signs are -
Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

The astrology of the zodiac is used to understand the personalities of people. This includes understanding how each sign affects humans in different ways and what predictions can be made about future events. Additionally, the zodiac can help us find meaning in life by helping us understand why certain things happen and what our path might be.

According to Vedic astrology, the zodiac in which the moon is present at the time of the birth of any person is called the birth sign or moon sign of that person.

Every zodiac sign is of 30 degree. Most people know very well that our sky is like a circular body which is measured in 360 degrees. The total number of zodiac signs is 12, so if we divide 360 by 12, then each zodiac sign becomes 30 degrees. We express the position of any planet in any zodiac in degrees only, like at what degree the Moon is in Libra, at what degree the Saturn is in Gemini, etc.

Nakshatra

In Indian astrology, the Moon has an important role. As we all know that the Moon revolves around the Earth in 27-28 days. According to Indian astrology, when the moon moves in the sky while revolving around the earth, it passes through a group or segment of 27 stars located in the sky. These group or segment is called Nakshatra or constellation or lunar houses. Each lunar house has a prominent star by which that house is known. Nakshatras is also called birth star in any person horoscope.

Every Nakshatra sign is of 13.33 degree approx. As we know that our sky is like a circular body which is measured in 360 degrees. The total number of Nakshatra is 27, so if we divide 360 by 27, then each Nakshatra sign becomes 13.33 degree. We express the position of any planet in any nakshatra in degrees only, like at what degree the Moon is in Swati nakshatra, at what degree the Saturn is in Rohini nakshatra, etc.

The 27 nakshatra are -
Ashvini/Aswini, Bharani, Krittika/Krithika, Rohini, Mrigashirsha, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Mula, Purva Ashadha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, Revati

Nakshatra pada

Nakshatra pada is the subset of Nakshatra. Nakshatra is divided into four parts which are called Nakshatra pada i.e. each constellation has four padas.

As we know that each Nakshatra is of about 13.33 degree. If we divide this by four it is 3 degrees of 20 minutes. Therefore, each Nakshatra pada is of about 3°20'.

Nakshatra pada has great importance in Vedic astrology. There is an alphabet for each constellation pad, which we use in the naming of children. Naming your child on the basis of the swar of the Nakshatra pad gives positive results in the growth and development of the child. The following table shows you which letter or swar is used for each Nakshatra pada -

Difference between Zodiac and Nakshatra

Nakshatra is the subset of Zodiac or Rahsi that is Nakshatra is small part and zodiac is big part in Vedic Astrology.

As we know that the sky is like any circular body which is measured in terms of 360 degrees.

When we divide 360 degree by 12 then each part is known as Rashi which is equal to 30 degree. When we divide 360 degree by 27 then each part is known as Nakshatra which is about 3.33 degree.

If we divide Rashi by Nakshatra, then there are about 2.25 Nakshatras in one Rashi. The following pictorial representation with explanation has been shown for above calculatiion and concept.

In the following image , the 27 Nakshatras are addressed as 27 equivalent divisions of a circle, every division is equivalent to 13 degrees 20 minutes. The grouping of the 27 Nakshatras starts with Ashvini Nakshatra in Mesha Rashi.

Each Nakshatra is separated into 4 equivalent pieces of 3 degrees 20 minutes. They are called Nakshatra Pada I, II, III, and IV. Every one of the four Nakshatra pada of Ashvini(brown color number - 1) nakshatra have been displayed in the image underneath. The pictorial portrayal of the 27 Nakshatras Circle with Reference to the Earth has been represented beneath.

1 to 27 fragments in a grey background color in the circle with a brown colored number or digit, addresses number grouping of nakshatras as expressed below -

The constellation considered more important than the zodiac

If we have to predict the events that will happen in the future, then the constellation is of more importance because the constellation is represented as a subtle part from which we get an accurate estimate of whether or not the events will happen or not. Whereas, on the contrary, the Rashi or Zodiac represents a large part, which gives us a broad estimate of a future event.
